How snooker prize money works

The money goes up with each round a player reaches, and players knocked out in the early rounds are paid too, which is why each total is several times the winner's share.

Ranking event prize money also decides the world rankings: a player's ranking is the money they have won over the last two seasons. Invitation events such as the Masters and the Champion of Champions pay out but do not count towards the rankings.

Most events also pay a bonus for the highest break of the tournament.
