Tennis court size and dimensions
A tennis court is 23.77 m long. It is 8.23 m wide for singles and 10.97 m for doubles; the extra strips down each side are the tramlines.

The lines
- Baselines: the back lines at each end.
- Side lines: inner for singles, outer for doubles.
- Service lines and the centre service line make the four service boxes.
- Centre mark: the short line in the middle of each baseline; the server stands either side of it.
Every line is part of the court: a ball touching it is in.
Space around the court
The ITF recommends at least 6.40 m behind each baseline and 3.66 m beside each side line, making the whole area about 36.6 m by 18.3 m. Professional show courts have much more run-back.
